Stop-motion animated living plants.
I animate real plants both in the wild and in the studio. I delicately wrap their arms with armature wire and introduce them to dancing through stop-motion animation. The looping videos showcase the timelessness and magic of a world overlooked by most. Stop motion is typically not filmed in daylight due to the unpredictable and moving light source, but in these works the subtle oscillation of sunlight mirrors the ceaseless cycles of nature and furthers the magical, untouchable ambiance. There is no editing or compositing in post-production, everything is entirely real and captured in-camera, acting as documentation of our collaboration.
These videos are presented as immersive installation called Hidden Earth, as well as placed inside Ghost Vitrines using pepper's ghost.
